Heading up today for the Shred Ready White Water Jam at the US National White Water Center. The guys at the East Coast Wake Park have specially built a rail for the event, around 10,000 people in attendance, great rider line up, should be an awesome time! Will have a view video edits dropping soon from the event, but for now, here is a look at what Dirtbag Productions put together from our first attempt at some white water:
A few trips on tap... GRC and Third Coast Cables for some System 2 shred is going to happen sometime in the next few weeks. Then the winter FLA cable trips will ensue :)
Our new camera is in and we filmed some this weekend. Quality is amazing and we're really stoked about where the future of our edits are heading with this new addition. Stay tuned!
Some awesome news for ALWake... with some special help from Shred Ready, we have finally gotten our hands on an HD camera for all of our future edits. The Sony FX7 will be our weapon of choice for everything we do from here on out and we are all stoked about having some legit, high quality footage for your (and our :)) enjoyment. With a cable trip most likely happening on the 16th and another White Water Festival in Charlotte, NC on the 23rd... keep your eyes peeled for a few new ALWake Quicksets droppin in crystal clear HD!

Mathis and Luker are heading to Florida for a cable trip this weekend and we've officially set a date for the WakeNation Trip... August 5th-August 8th... hit us up for details if you wanna tag along. We've got a couple of boat edits in the works... tons of riding going down right now... don't even have enough time to edit or do site updates!
Good luck to team rider Clint Westbrook who is throwin' down in Reno at Nationals this week/weekened. Thoughts go out to Dylan Carr who got KOed on a gnarly spill last weekend... chill out for a bit and then get back on the horse ;)
GO SHRED!!!!
-ALWake.com (7/16/10)
Some big weekends coming up... possible WakeNation trip going down this weekend with some of the KnoxWake guys... July 4th weekend rail contest at Lake Guntersville (Wakefactory.net)... Bound to be a Tampa cable trip in the near future... filming for a new Bama Shred DVD... Axis Boats on Lake Martin?... Things are getting interesting.
-ALWake (6/22/10)
Another sucessful clinic with Singleton and Blue Creek. Huge thanks to the Graydons, Autrys, and Watts for bringing their boats out and helping with the event. We have some footage and pictures to put together so if you made it out, keep checking back and you might catch yourself in our video edit! Again, thanks to all involved and we'll see you in a few weeks at our second clinic event!
-ALWake (6/14/10)
The crew is back in Bama, fresh off a weekend of rail shred at the Gravity Research Compound in Eastman, GA. Big thanks to Wes Bearden for being so rad and having us out. Massive amounts of footy and pictures so stay tuned to the site and Facebook to catch it all in the next week or two.
Big weekend ahead in the Alabama scene with the largest contest of the year going down Friday-Sunday... SPRING2SUMMER at Lake Guntersville. Friday night rail jam, Saturday contest for the groms, ladies and intermediates, and then the big boys throw down Sunday. Check out Wakefactory on Facebook for all the details or send us an email at AlabamaWake@Yahoo.com.
Apparently the ALWake crew likes shredding rails... more McCormicks footy, enjoy:
Back from an absolutely rad trip to McCormicks and OWC... got to shred McCormicks yesterday with Adkison....AJ, Todd, Kirby, Luker, Graydon, and Mathis hit both cables all day Sat and Sun and of course Norbi V was behind the camera...he's got two edits (one from each park) coming out. He did work yesterday and already finished the Tampa Progression session and the ODub one will be out soon. Thanks again dawg! Check it out:
Another warm weekend logged. Luker headed to GA to ride with some of the locals up on Lake Oconee and Lake Clark Hill while Mathis and Graydon shredded boat and rails on Lake Martin. Lots of the rest of the team made it out to their respective spots and started working off all that winter rust!
Word on the street is Graydon's doing Stokemeter Wednesday night at 9pm so if you're around a computer feel free to tune in!
Spots are filling up fast for the Wake Games trip... we've got 2 more spots in the 8 seater that's heading out Friday afternoon, staying through Monday afternoon. Hit us up if you wanna tag along!
Check out the shots of Alex and Jeffs rail session on Facebook and then go shred!!!
Shred weather is upon us. From what I've heard, a large majority of the crew were able to score un-wetsuited sessions over the weekend.... Big thanks to the Graydons and Autrys for the pulls and if you haven't already, GET ON THE WATER! The lake is great right now and most of the Wallys are still in hibernation so its smooooooth.
People are already talking about the Wake Games trip this year and we need to get an idea of who all is coming and when so we can arrange the caravan. Hit us up at AlabamaWake@Yahoo.com if you're planning on coming and what day you want to leave/return. We'll see if we can't work it out for everybody to make it down together in the most efficient way possible. In the meantime... enjoy the spring and ride ride ride, now is such a great time to progress!
Mr. Mathis and a skeleton crew of ALWake riders hit the road yesterday Tampa bound for some cableshred. Jealous. You guys be safe and have fun on your cruise next week....
We've also got another trip to Orlando/Tampa planned for March 13-14 so if anyone is interested in riding down and hitting the cables, email us at AlabamaWake@yahoo.com. More updates on everything to come soon so stay tuned!!!!
Another shred trip in the log... and another one scheduled. We got a little bit of footage from last weekends trip to McCormicks, and hopefully we'll be able to get some more soon to put together our first all HD Quick Set #14. Thanks again to Dickey and Shay for the hospitality and hoooking us up with places to crash. The weather is slowly starting to heat up and boat season is right around the corner. Keep checking the site for the next edit, and Facebook for pictures and regular updates about what we've got going on.
Another epic trip down south. Unfortunately because of the cold and a few long evenings, we didn't get a chance to film any, but believe us when we say, McCormicks was amazing ... and we had a nominally (hahahaha) good time ringing in the New Year. We also had a chance to shred the new rooftop rail at OWC and unfortunately we think they missed the boat on this one. None of us were that stoked on it due to the steepness and center spine. Regardless... fun was had. Looks like we're gearing up to head back down for MLK weekend so if you want in, shoot us an email.
Want a cable park in Atlanta? I know this has been a dream of ours for a longtime and now you have a chance to do your part to help the cause. Sign the petition at the link below to help us make this a reality. Send the link to any friends in the wake industry or fellow riders to get the word out!
Santa was good to us this year and hooked it up with a few new tools for editing and filming. Here is a little taste of some editing with our new MacBook Pro and footage from the Flip UltraHD.
Get ready... we're rolling out for our annual week after Christmas shred trip to Tampa/Orlando! Carpools leaving on Tues, Wed and Thursday. Hit us up for more info if you wanna tag along!!
Jeff Mathis shreds rails when its cold:
Tampa edit complete. Big ups to Mr. Brewbaker for his first progressive session on the cable! Enjoy the footy:
Things are coming along nicely at The ALWake Park with our second rail almost complete. The wakeskaters should be stoked on our new 9in ollie, 40ft flat bar we have dubbed "The Snake". We had a little time to get some footage of the spot as well as our first hit on "Downy" (the rooftop rail. The edit from our trip to Tampa last week should be completed soon but for now enjoy the footy from the Park:
The ALWake Park is in full effect with the completion of our first rail. 88ft of rooftop pleasure! We still have some cosmetic work to be done but she's a beauty. Brewbaker, Luker, Mathis and Graydon all put in some major work over the weekend between sessions in the skate park to make this thing happen, and hopefully we'll get a chance to shred it soon. MUCH more to come but for now check it out:
The Shred Ready Team 2010 Grinch is ordered from Distortion and due for delivery in a week and a half. Tom and the rest of the crew are so stoked and things are probably about to get interesting :)
Also, we'll be saddling up for Orlando/Tampa Thursday evening with lots of pics and footy to come after!
Some really rad stuff is going down in the ALWake scene right now!!! Thanks to our camera man Dewey, ALWake Park is becoming a reality with work starting tomorrow on obstacles for our very own PWC accessible rail park. From a wall ride to a rooftop, and 3 or 4 more creative rail designs, we've got big things in store for the park that lies just outside of Birmingham.
The Thanksgiving trip to OWC and McCormicks is only 7 days away and apparently it's "bring your dad to wake" weekend! With 3 dads in-tow, there is sure to be fun... as well as a little better accommodations and food than our usual Super 8 and Krystal :) Don't know who will be in it, or what the theme will be, but I'm sure ALWake.com Quick Set #12 will be epic once all is said and done!
Rail-O-Ween 3.0 was the HEAT! Luker, Mathis and Graydon all made it through to the semi-final round with Alex and Jeff heading all the way to the finals. The locals were great and super hospitable. Alex and local rider Steven Snyder had an absolutely killer first round heat dual to break a tie to move on to the semis. Pro rider Jeff House and Derrick Grassman were in the house, but didn't have enough to bring down the 2009 Rail-O-Ween champ...... ALEX GRAYDON. BOOM!!! Alex and Jeff both destroyed the course with Mr. Graydon taking home the cool $1,000 in prize money.
Congrats to Alex and big ups to the entire KnoxWake crew for having us out and putting up with all our antics!!
Jeff, Alex and Luker are heading up to Knoxville, TN for the weekend to represent the ALWake crew in the 3rd annual Rail-O-Ween, winner takes all rail contest. Ian Zinner of Dirtbag productions will be on site to document, as well as tons of sick local and pro riders.
The Thanksgiving trip to OWC is looking like a MAJOR event with people from all of the local scenes coming down. Dirtbag, Wakefactory, Knox Wake, and ALWake have all got confirmed attendees for the trip. Lots of people on different schedules for the week, some going down before T-Day and some after, but there should be a steady flow of our local talent shredding the park the whole break. Feel free to contact us for info, or just drive down and hit us up!
Team rider Ben Watts continues to raise the bar for young shredders everywhere. HS FS 3 for the first time since he was 8. I doubt he'll stop throwing it this time :)
Another sucessful trip to OTown for shreddage. The ALWake team was riding 7 deep this past weekend for the merryment that is Orlando Florida. Austin and Alex manned the camera for a while to document folks doing work in the park... Quick Set #10 is in the process and will be posted soon.
Events page updated... We've added a few things that are going down during the cold months!! Any suggestions for fall/winter events are welcome as well just email us at AlabamaWake@yahoo.com.
Although the weather is still amazing and Lake Martin is at almost full pool, off season moves are already heating up and it appears our area is about to undergo a major shake up in the Wake arena... and ALWake.com is proud to be a part of it!!! Here's to progression of the sport and the improvement in our local scene. Stay tuned to ALWake for future developments.
Finally got something put together from our Surf Expo weekend in Orlando. Enjoy:
BRAKE THE WAKE was an insanely good time. Big thanks to all the people and companies that supported the event:
and everyone I'm forgetting
The contest was great, with Matt Sims, Will Smith, and Hunter Bentley taking home most of the prize money. Thanks to the city of G-Ville for putting up with all of us. Veronica and Austin manned the camera the whole weekend and got some great shots, check'em out:
Feel free to email us for event info, or check out Wakefactory for the details.
We are leaving tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 for Orlando for those who want to join. Parks Doc, Surf Expo, 9ft swells at Cocoa, OWC.... how can you say no?
Expo is a go.... we can't leave until late, but it looks like a carpool will be heading out of Auburn next Friday afternoon between 12 and 1. Anybody who wants to ride or follow email AlabamaWake@Yahoo.com. The Parks Documentary is premiering that night so hopefully we'll be able to catch it in time. Saturday is Expo and probably some park shreddage. Sunday morning cable shred and heading back home sometime in the afternoon.
Gotta give some love to ALWake rider Kyle Maese who snapped his femur on a rail up in Oregon this past week. Hope you heal up quick brodeo.
ALWake.com die-cuts are in! I'll post a pic soon, or go ahead and email me for more info.
New trick Monday... Ben Watts stomped 2 Toe Back 1's during an AM shred sesh today. Seriously? He's 10. Hopefully I'll get this beaut on film later in the week. Congrats Ben!
I had the pleasure of going out to the Westbrooks place on Sandy Creek yesterday to get some footy of Aj and Clint. Between the 15 little kids on the boat, Karaoke at Chuck's, Aj's new switch toe 7, and Clint's 2 new mobes... I had a blast. Big thanks to Don and CeCe for the hospitality, and keep checking the site for the next ALWake.com Quick Set of our weekend. Here are a few pics I snapped while not filming:
Rumor has it that 2007 Jr. Men's Pro Tour Champ, Aj Racinelli could be extending his visit to Alabama indefinitely. Over some grub at the local eatery last night, Mr. Racinelli divulged his plans to start doing some coaching around the Lake Martin area and possibly make east central AL his home for a while. Aj is a sick coach and has a real knack for being able to spot the little things riders do wrong and correct them. If you are interested in coaching/lessons contact us at AlabamaWake@yahoo.com and we'll be sure to hook you up.
After our video review of the Standard Boat, I figured I would do a quick write up to tell little more about our experience with the boat. Check it out:
Big ups to Ben Watts who has been killing it lately… adding a Toe 5 and a Heel 3 to his quiver. If he keeps adding a trick a week, he’ll be on that Boys podium before we know it.
A little West Coast steeze is always good for the South East scene… so it’s rad that AJ Racinelli has decided to visit again this year. We’ve put down a little bit of footage so far, and hopefully we’ll end up with enough to do an ALWake Quick Set featuring AJ, so you can appreciate how stylish the 2007 Jr. Men’s Pro Tour Champ really is.
Alex Graydon takes you to 900 school:
Way too much Alex Graydon news these days… yesterday’s set included 3 wake to wake 9s, and his first Heel 9 off the dub. No footy, but I had to throw out some love. Good luck to Alex and all the other area riders hitting up PWT this weekend!
Alex Graydon wake to wake Toe 9. Boom. This clip with be in the next ALWake.com Quick Set for sure… but for now… Enjoy the raw footy:
Got some footy with Jeff, Alex and Denton yesterday. Check it out!
Spring 2 Summer was insane and Ian Zinner’s “Who” was epic to say the least. Zane Schwenk, Phil, Matt Sims, Alex Graydon, and the other pro-division riders came out and threw down Saturday and Sunday. The rail jam was a little “too” much fun ;) thanks to the crew at Boondocks and Malibu… and Sunday was a great time as well. Thanks to Dustin and the Wakefactory.net crew for putting on the event and all the sponsors that helped make it happen. We’ll have some pictures and video up shortly I’m sure.
Because of my recent misfortune, I’ve decided to start doing some little edits with a Sony HandyCam I swiped from my house in ATL. I finished the first one last week and hope to start a kind-of regular thing, putting one of these out every 2 or 3 weeks. Anyway, I’m calling it ALWake.com “Quick Sets”, and the first features Jeff Mathis and Hayes Peace check it out:
I wanted to give a brief shout to Mr. Graydon and Mr. Renfroe for qualifying to ride Saturday at PWT in Texas. An big ups to Phil for layin it down and taking second overall in Jr. Mens. It’s always awesome to see local area guys doing well in the contest scene! 4 DAYS UNTIL S2S!!!!
Some of the ALWake team headed up to Atlanta this past weekend for the College Wake Rail Jam. Ian was up taking pics and footy. Parks, Errington, and several other pros were on hand for the event as well as some local heros like Rob Corum, Taylor Renfroe, and Jeff Mathis. The Alabama wake scene was well represented! Check out pics at Ian’s Facebook page (click on pic below).
Still no software yet… but I’ve found a way to add content to this page without it for now (but it will look funny). A few notes for those who have missed it…
On a more somber note, I just got back from the Dr. who informed me I tore my ACL on a tail glide off Big White at OWC on Saturday. I have an MRI to confirm next week and pre-op PT as well. I’ll keep you updated, but it appears, for now… my season is over L
Almost done. She needs paint, a chain, some engine work and a few other little things, but it's basically finished. Total cost in it right now is around $100. I'm planning on doing a full write up soon... check it out:
So while the ALWake team has been kicking it at Rathy's birthday and shredding O-Dub, I've been hard at work auditing and winch building. PhotoBucket is acting retarded so I can't get the pics up right now but check back later for the newest ones. Other than going through about 8 shatty drill bits from Lowes I think it's coming along nicely... check out the most recent shot:
I'm basically finished with the winch spool. I have a little welding and Line-Xing to do after I finish the frame and give it a test run but you can get the idea. It ended up being a little wider than I planned with 9.5" inside the wheels and a full 15" between the outermost points. Check out all the pics on the projects page or click below:
Jeff got his Marius, Answers and general CDub swag from Zane in the mail this week. From his 7's and BS 5 to his Switch TS BS 3 and other various steeziness, Jeff deserves a sponsor.... so big ups to the first ALWake team rider to rep CWB!!!! Congrats!!!!
